Entries from March 2008
Okay, so I’ve only just started this blog and here I go away on holiday and won’t be updating for a few days! Sorry! However, this weekend (Thursday – Sunday) is a special trip for myself and 2 friends – we’ve known each other since high school. One of them is flying from Melbourne and the other with me from Adelaide and we shall meet up at the Sydney airport and then hit the Sydney shops!!! We are really looking forward to it as we haven’t had a trip away all three of us for about 10 years. It is to celebrate our 30th birthdays which were last year, and is a treat for ourselves and each other – no hubbies or bubbies (probably a few calls home though!)
I will be sure to update with news and highlights on my return – I haven’t ever really holidayed in Sydney, so it will be interesting to see the sights – and taste the Krispy Kremes
!
Will write more on Monday!!!

Well, the countdown is on! Only 5 more sleeps until the last day to order from the Current Idea Book and Catalogue and also the Summer Mini Catalogue! The new Stampin’ Up Idea Book and Catalogue will be released on 1st April! Yay! I have had a sneak peek already and love the products in there – lots of new papers and ribbon – oh and there’s new stamps too!
Of course, to make room for all the new stuff, we have to say goodbye to some old favourites. I have listed below the products from the Summer Mini that will be ‘off the shelves’ forever from next Monday night, and of course you can check out the Summer Mini here. Click here to check out the retiring list and make sure you don’t miss out on a stamp set that you really love, or email me karigail@internode.on.net for a list of retiring products.

Well, South Australia has had some rain at last! It was so lovely to wake up to the sound and smell of the rain today and it made it feel like it was Autumn at last – well compared to our 15 day heatwave at the start of March!
As promised, here is my Autumn leaves card that I made for my swap. I love these Earth elements shades at the moment and have combined Pumpkin Pie, Really Rust and Old Olive ink with some Very Vanilla, Old Olive and Metallic Copper card-stock. I used the Petal Prints leaves stamp (fantastic for backgrounds!) to stamp the leaves and then, with a scalpel, have just cut around some of the leaves so that they lift up and give the card some extra dimension – kind of like leaves tumbling from a tree. The sentiment is from the retiring Stem Silhouettes stamp set.

A technique I have tried out in making this card is using my brayer to create the leaf background. Thanks to my wonderful upline (Hi Jayne!) I learned how to use my brayer to create a background. I inked up my stamp and rolled the brayer over it a couple of times, then rolled my brayer over a 12×12 piece of card-stock. By doing this several times in a couple of different colours I was able to create a lovely background page with varying depths of colour as the ink was applied. I will definitely be using this technique again – it would be fantastic for background pages in a scrapbook.
That’s all for now, hope you are having a nice day too – wherever you are reading this!

Just popped on to wish anyone reading a Happy Easter! I hope whatever you may be doing is relaxing and that you get to enjoy some time with your loved ones – be they blood relatives or not!!
I used a few free minutes today to finish up some cards for a swap I am doing with a group of friends. The cards I finished today were of an Autumn theme and I was pleased with how they turned out – which is a good thing! I will photograph them tomorrow to share with you. Other than those free minutes it has been cleaning and cooking – and playing with my boy. He had 2 teeth pulled yesterday, so we indulged him a little with his favourite DVDS and lots of playtime with Mum and Dad.
Enjoy your break!

Well, it appears I made a few new year’s resolutions this year! Because of my new enthusiasm for all things stamping, I felt that I wanted to share with some friends and new customers techniques that I am learning in my own journey. To kick off the year, I tried out ‘Bleaching’. I love this technique! It is sooo easy and can produce some beautiful results. The picture below shows how the Old Olive Cardstock turns lovely Autumn colours when bleach is applied to it. The design for this card was inspired by a card I saw on SplitCoast Stampers, however they had used grey card stock, but I immediately wanted to try it with Old Olive!

Unfortunately, the Leaves Awash Stampin’ Around Jumbo Wheel is on the Retiring List of the products retiring at the end of March 2008. If it is a wheel you’d like to purchase or if you want to make sure you don’t miss out on any other sets on your wishlist, please contact me ASAP!

Hello all! Here I am, in the cyberworld!
I made a few personal new years resolutions this year – besides the obvious ones of course, lose weight, save money, etc, etc. One of those resolutions was to start a blog. My reasons are simple – I have enjoyed so many hours of reading other peoples blogs and seeing their creations, that I wanted to share with them what I am up to. I may not be up to the same standard, but I want to give it a red hot go!
More posts and pics will be added soon, stay tuned! K
