A good punch!

May 13, 2008 · 2 Comments

Doesn’t everyone love a good punch?! And I’m not talking the alcoholic kind!! ;) I’m talking about a punch that you can use in more than one way! Okay, so you can punch a circle with it, but what else? By using a punch several different ways it’s MUCH easier to justify having the whole range!!! heeheehee! Now, the card below features 2 Stampin’ Up! punches – can you tell which ones?

Okay, the easiest is probably the Scallop circle punch – especially with a clue like the one I’ve given you! Yep, I’ve use this punch 3 times on this card…. once on the white card and twice on the Blue Bayou card with the gold embossing. Twice? Yep, twice! What I have done is punch out the circle once, then used a magic dot to stick the punched out piece onto a scrap of paper, inserted it back into my punch and rotated it so that the ‘petals’ of the scallop would create smaller and pointier ‘petals’. The great thing about doing this is that you can layer it over a scallop circle as I have done here with the white circle and you get that extra little bit of colour showing through. A very thoughtful person posted this on a forum I visit and I’ve been trying it out quite a bit ever since!

Okay, so what other punch have I used? Did you guess Round Tab Punch? Well that’s what I used to create the hole in the front of the card. I punched through the card once, the positioned the punch at rightangles to the first punch and lined up the round edges of the punched area with the punch – hey presto, I’ve got myself a hole!! And just the perfect size to fit a scallop circle punch feature too!

Of course, I have used my colour of the month Blue Bayou Cardstock again along with a piece of Spring Break DSP. I embossed the circle Baroque Motifs stamp with gold embossing powder and added a rhinestone brad to the centre for a bit of bling!

Thanks for visiting! K :)

More new goodies!

Hi! Sorry I didn’t check in last night but I was busy putting all (well, all that will fit ;) ) of my supplies into my new storage trolley! It was my Mother’s Day pressie and although I had dropped a few BIG hints :) it was great to get it and now to be able to put all my cardstock and paper in a safe FLAT space is fantastic! So, last night I was housecleaning and craft-supply-sorting, how about you? Did you have a great weekend?

Tonight I am catching up on a few projects, one is my ATC swap due at the end of the week. As you can see below, I have gone for my tried and tested combo of Old Olive card with leaves stamped in black and then bleach applied by paintbrush. I am having a break while it dries properly and also to clear my head from the bleach fumes!! Oops! I think I was leaning over it a bit much! Anyway, I’ve done the whole 12×12 sheet of cardstock and will shortly be cutting it up into ATC size and embellishing it before posting them to NSW and then they go off around Australia and I will receive 8 different ones back next week! So much fun participating in a swap!

I’ve used my new stamp set Artfully Asian in this ATC. I had to buy something with leaves to replaces my beautiful Leaves Awash wheel which retired at the end of March :( However, I had been looking for an excuse to purchase the Artfully Asian set, so hey, got to take the opportunity when it knocks!!!

More soon! ‘Night! Kari
