Welcome to ……

Alison! Yay! Alison is a dear friend of mine from back in high school (and she was a bridesmaid for me too!) and she has decided to join the world of Stampin’ Up! with me! I am so pleased to have her join so she will get a chance to see and use all these wonderful products. Of course, by becoming a demonstrator Alison also gets access to the demonstrator only section of the SU! website and some demonstrator only forums – these are fantastic resources and great places for us to find inspiration and information on stamping, cardmaking and scrapbooking. It has also been a place where I have met some wonderful stamping friends too, which is a lovely bonus!

If anyone else is interested in what SU! can offer you please contact me ASAP karigail@internode.on.net to find out – there is a special on until 15th August where you can save $25 off the RRP of the Starter Kit (that’s another inkpad and pack of cardstock!!) so don’t wait or you may miss out on the special!

Bye for now!

End of the week!

August 8, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Yay! It’s Friday night! I hope you all have a relaxing weekend lined up. For me it will be the usual chores plus some stamping and catching up with a friend for her birthday. I’m looking forward to it!

I thought I’d share this card with you – I made it using my new Boho Blossoms punch and One of a kind Stamp set along with my large oval punch. I just trimmed the ends off the oval to create the ‘vase’! The colours again are Pretty in Pink, Purely Pomegranate and Chocolate Chip. What a cute idea – and before you ask how I came up with the idea, I didn’t! I saw it in one of Andrea Walfords class planners! Thanks Andrea for such a great idea and way to use the oval punch!

Enjoy yoru weekend! Kari :)

August Colour of the Month….

August 6, 2008 · 3 Comments

… is Chocolate Chip!!! Hmm, why do I always want to say ‘yum!’ after I mention that colour?!! Chocolate Chip is a great colour, versatile for cards of pretty much ANY occasion – okay, now someone will email me and say ‘what about….’ and I’ll be stumped!! But I do think you can use it in most situations. I find it is a nice and softer alternative to black in a lot of colour combos – plus there is that gorgeous wide grosgrain ribbon available in it!!!

Ths card here is made using Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink, Purely Pomegranate and Whisper White. I have used stamps from the One of a Kind set in the new Mini Catalogue and I have to say this is a lovely set. You will definitely be seeing more projects using this set!!

Hope you are having a good week! K :)

1st Stamp-a-Stack!

August 4, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Well, I don’t know about you all, but I have made some Christmas cards already! Yay! Tonight I held my first Stamp-a-Stack (SAS) and we are focussing on Christmas cards to get ready for that almighty rush as December looms closer. The girls that came tonight (Hi!) went home with 10 cards – 5 each of 2 designs. They had a good time (well, if not they were polite and told me they did!! ;) ) and I made a couple of my own cards and also the samples for September’s SAS. Here are the cards that we made tonight….

Just think, 10 Christmas cards already made! Very organised! For details and pictures of the September SAS cards and class see here.

Also, I have only a couple more spaces left in my August Ribbon Club. Please let me know if you would liek to be a part of this. The selection for August is the Double Stitched ribbons in the In Color range – for $17.80 you get approx 2.2m of each colour (6 of them) – this is the same price as you would pay for 1 roll if you bought the colours individually. Let me know ASAP if you would like to join in or for more details see this post.

Okay, I’m off to bed! Night! K :)

Challenge 1 for those of us at home!

August 2, 2008 · 1 Comment

Kylie set the challenges tonight (~waving hello~) and they were great! Our first challenge was to use a template that is availble in the Demonstrator only section of the SU! website (see, if you join up you will get access to all kinds of fab things!! ;) ) Here is my attempt…

I picked colours from the Jersey Shore DSP and then decided against using the DSP anyway! Oh well! I like this colour combo anyway! It’s Brilliant Blue, Wild Wasabi, Pumpkin Pie and Bashful Blue. There is a lovely little Hodge Podge clip at the top and of course I used my circle punches for the feature. The present and bow images are from the Big Bold Birthdya set – big thankyou to Kylie for sending me some stamped images as I don’t have this set yet!! mwah!!!

I’ll be back over the next couple of days with some more photos to share! Have a great weekend! K :)

The Not-the-Team-Weekend-Away!

August 2, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I know, that really does not mak emuch sense does it?! To explain a bit, The INKlings – our fabulous team of SU! demonstrators led by Jayne Mercer – had a team weekend away this weekend. Over 20 demonstrators armed with stamps, inks, punches and cardstock were gathering for 48 hours of creativity and chatting – and apparently some archery!!! Unfortunately I couldn’t make it this year and neither could a few others (hi guys!), so Kylie and I thought we’d have a few challenges over the weekend for us to have some fun with too!

One of the first challenges was to CASE a card from another INKling members blog and you had to use a different stamp set to the one that they used. I have CASEd these cards …..

This is from Beths blog and I picked this card to case. I used my Boho Backgrounds stamp and embossed it in white embossing powder before spongng the mellow moss ink aorund it. I guessed at the colours and used Mellow Moss ink, Chocolate Chip and Purely Pomegranate.

This one is CASEd form Jayne’s blog. A really lovely little card and I used Sage Shadow and Pretty in Pink with a little bit of Whisper White and Versamark (I didn’t have Sage Shadow ink, so versamark is a great alternative when you want tone-on-tone stamping). From the looks of Jayne’s picture, it had score lines in from each side and then the piercing was done inside the corners of the score lines. I used the Polka Dots and Petals set here and a little bit of Pretty in Pink Grosgrain. A really simple but pretty card and I’m glad I saw it – hope I did it justice, Jayne!!!!

Tonight there will be more challenges, so stay tuned either tonight or tomorrow for more pictures. Hope you have a great weekend – whether you are home or away!!!! :) K
