A Carol-ling we go!

September 19, 2008 · 2 Comments

Tonight I have another Christmas card to share with you and this one is courtesy of the super-talented Carol Dunstan! At the INKlings team weekend away, everyone took part in a ‘Card in a Box’ Challenge where Each person created a card and then put all the products that were required to make it in a box . This way over the weekend each person had the opportunity to make each card and all the products required were precut and together and ready to be used. A fantastic idea! Anyway, Carol’s card can be found here and I liked it so much that I asked for Carol’s permission to use it as a Christmas SAS card – and she said yes!! Thankyou Carol, and just so you know, all my customers who have seen it LOVE it too!!

I’ve used markers (Garden Green and Ruby Red) to colour in the stamp from the Peaceful Wishes set and stamped onto Confetti White cardstock (the same card as used for base cardstock) and the stamped piece is mounted onto Garden Green card. A little bit of red gingham and a stamped sentiment in the bottom corner (from the So May Saying Hostess Set) and we are good to go!

If you would like to make this card at a Stamp-a-Stack night, please contact me to find out dates or if you can get some friends together I am happy to come to you!

Happy Stampin’ :) K

More Wild cards!!

September 17, 2008 · 3 Comments

I know, I know, there are other shades of green in the SU! rainbow, but Wild Wasabi is certainly the one I reach for most often!! LOL! I have 2 cards to share with you today. This first one is so cute and so easy I whipped a couple of them up for some little boys birthdays!

I was inspired by some Sesame Street character cards here and on SCS. My son loved them too, so I may have to make him one as a treat! All it takes is a scallop circle punch and then some smaller circle punches – I used the 1/2″ circle for the eyes and nose and a larger circle cut up for the mouth. The DSP I used is East Coast Prep (really cool boy colours) and of course the background card is Wild Wasabi!

Now if you get my newsletter you would have noticed that instead of picking one colour this month I chose ‘Christmas Colours’ as a theme. I have been a bit slack in sharing them with you, but I have been busy creating with them, so here is one for today….

Here I have used Wild Wasabi (surprise, surprise!!), Purely Pomegranate and Whisper White. I used the Season of Joy stamp set (this is from the Spring mini so you only have until November to purchase this one!!) and I also stamped the Purely Pomegranate cardstock with the boho backgrounds flower pattern stamp before punching out the 5 petal flowers. There is also a Wild Wasabi 5 petal flower behind to act as leaves and I decided to use a jumbo eyelet to act as the flower centre. In real life, you can see that I have gently curled the flowers forward to create a 3D effect, but it’s hard to capture that in the picture!

Stay tuned for more Christmas cards and ideas!! :)

Welcome Katy and some cards to share….

September 10, 2008 · 1 Comment

I’d like to welcome Katy to Stampin’ Up! Katy also took advantage of the Super Starter Kit Special and joined up and is already planning her first demonstration! It’s is so great to be able to share the SU! fun with others and to see them get excited about it too! Enjoy, Katy!

I did finally get my Father’s Day cards made, they were a little last minute, but at least it forced me to keep them simple and not go overboard with the embellishments!! I ended up using a lot of versamark to create tone on tone backgrounds and then the Crop-a-dile came in really handy for dry embossed dot rows too! Here is a picture of some of the cards I made…

Sorry about the quality of the picture. We had major camera issues last week and now it is back working again, however the settings have gone haywire requiring me to do a lot of editing to the photos once they are uploaded onto the computer and I don’t think I have improved them all that much. However, you get the general idea from it!!

My other favourite Stamp Set for these kinds of cards is the All in the Family set. I made a card for my Mum’s birthday from my son and made it a picture of ‘Nanna and Aidan’ and now for Father’s Day I did ‘Grandpa and Aidan fishing’ (I drew a fishing line and fish) and I also did one (not pictured) of Aidan and his Dad with our dogs (the set has a dog stamp and a cat stamp!)! Very cute and simple – easy to colour in too and by using the Stamp-a-ma-jig the little stamps line up beautifully!!

Hope you are having a good week! It’s almost Friday!! :) K

CASEd Mini Cards

September 7, 2008 · 2 Comments

About a month ago, my upline Jayne offered to set the INKlings team weekly challenges. We have a Business one and a Creative one and they are just quick little tasks that either help us get organised (eg labelling catalogues, putting our details on order forms, contacting customers) or get our creative juices flowing and make us try new things.

Well, so far I haven’t been doing to well at completing the Creative Challenges, but here is one I did get around to! Jayne challenged us to CASE a particular card from the Spring Mini Catalogue and make 2 cards the same – send one to a customer and send one to a fellow demo (the next one to put their name on the sign up list on our forum) We had to make, write and address envelopes and be finished in 15 minutes! Hmm, I think I was around the 20-25 minute mark, but that was still a great quick way to get me thinking and started without me having to come up with a design myself – the beauty of the Stampin’ Up! Catalogues!!;)

The card on the left is mine and the gorgeous green one is from a fellow INKling Jodi. I’d link to her blog but I can’t find the address! Sorry Jodi! On the right you can see the image of the card shown in the catalogue – isn’t it great to see different ways to interpret the same basic design, just changing colours and stamp sets!

Now, I’d like to challenge you my loyal readers to CASE this card too! Send me an email with a picture of your CASEd card by the end of the week (Friday 12th September) and I will pick a favourite to put onto my blog to share and you will win a sample pack of various Stampin’ Up! ribbons! Good luck and I can’t wait to see yoru creations! :) K

Happy Spring!

September 4, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Hello! I’m back! Welcome to Spring everyone! Here’s to a happy, healthy and more creative month ahead!! ;)

I’d love to say that during my blogging absence I’ve been creating and photographing to share with you all, but alas, it is not so! However, I have a fantastic special to share, so maybe you could excuse my lack of creativity for now?

September is Free Wheelin’ Month with Stampin’ Up! With any of these 6 stamp sets listed, you can get the matching jumbo wheel for free!! That’s a saving of $15.95!

Don’t miss out, place your order soon – remember if you want to take advantage of my share order, then you must contact me before the 19th September to place your order and that way you only need pay 5% of the RRP for postage and handling instead of a minimum $5.95.

And, okay, so I haven’t been totally out of my creative zone… here is a Father’s Day card! I’ve used Naturals Ivory cardstock along with Fall Flowers DSP and a little bit of Soft Sky and Old Olive cardstock for this one. The ribbon is Soft Sky double stitched ribbon and I’ve used a brad from the Styled Silver Hodge Podge available in the Summer mini catalogue.

Have a great weekend everyone!
