More Christmas challenges!

October 30, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Hello again! Tonight I thought I’d show you the other 2 challenges from Kylie’s Cyberchallenge on the INKlings forum. I already showed you Challenge 3 here, so here are Challenges 1 and 2…

Challenge 1 was a pop-up card (instructions here) in Christmas colours and I chose my Merry, Merry Stamp set to go with my Mellow Moss DSP and Holiday Harmony DSP.

Challenge 2 was a sketch challenge from Taylor. Kylie loves sketch challenges so I knew there’d be one in there somewhere!!! Here is my interpretation of the sketch…

Hope you’ve enjoyed these! More soon! K :)

Happy Birthday Jayne!

October 29, 2008 · 2 Comments

October definitely is the month for birthdays! Today it is Jayne Mercer’s Birthday. Jayne is my lovely upline, and although we INKlings are scattered around Australia so it’s a bit hard to get together to throw her a party, Alana suggested we throw Jayne a Virtual Birthday Party! I’m bringing flowers and presents, so here you are Jayne! I hope you have a lovely day and get very spoiled! Wish I could send you the scent of the flower too – it’s from my garden and smells divine (Just Joey)

And if you’d like to see what other INKling guests are bringing to Jayne’s party visit the blogs of these other ‘virtual’ guests!!!

Alana     Carol     Beth     Merryl     Margaret     Joanna     Lin Mei     Karen     Teneale     Kim     Suzanne

Have a great day! :) Kari

The Cupcake card winner is…..

October 19, 2008 · 1 Comment

Helen! Thankyou for showing us your cupcake cake! Please email me your snail mail address and I’ll have a Level 1 hostess set in the mail to you this week! Congratulations!

Sorry for the delay between postings this week, with classes, SAS’s and work to fit in amongst being a Mum and wife, it’s just been a little hectic this week. However I did manage to participate in the monthly INKlings cyberchallenge on Wednesday! My lovely friend Kylie set the challenges this month and her theme was Christmas! We had 3 cards to make and I’ll show you the 3rd one today – it had to be ‘proper’ Christmas colours and it could have been a scrapbook layout, but I couldn’t pick any pictures to use, so I went for a card instead.

I used the Lovely as a Tree set for the tree and Peaceful Wishes for the sentiment and used Old Olive, Very Vanilla and Real Red for my colours. You can also see some gold embossing on the writing over the tree which looks even nicer in real life! To get the sentiment along the bottom of the card I just stamped in Versamark (which I already had out for embossing). A really nice, quick and easy card which is great as is or you could dress up a little more with distressing, piercing, more layers or hodgepodge.

And do you know where I got the inspiration for this card? Page 86 of the Idea Book and Catalogue! I had seen the tag there and loved the idea, so when the opportunity came up to get the Lovely as a Tree Set (thanks Dani!! :) ) I was all for it! Don’t you just love how easy it is to get these ideas from the Catalogue?! I almost regard it as my ‘bible’! I even have a copy at work so if something comes to mind while I’m slaving away, I can check it out at lunch and plan my cards! LOL! Crazy aren’t I?!

Stay tuned for the Challenge 2 photo soon – as well as some more blog candy!! :) K

Another little ‘taste’!

October 12, 2008 · 3 Comments

Wow! I think I am making myself hungry with all these cakes and cupcakes at the moment!! LOL! Oh well, at least it is better for the waistline to be playing with ‘cakes’ on paper and card instead of the real, live, tasty, yummy ones!! If you want to check out some fabulous cupcakes visit Bakerella! I love to check out her site to see what creations she has been making! Oh, and if anyone in Australia knows where in Australia to get the Wiltons Candy Melts that she uses so well to decorate her cupcake pops - please email me!! ;)

Okay, I thought I’d share a couple of cupcake cards that I have spotted around the place! Jayne has used the Short and Sweet set for her card - very cute and elegant! Dani has a gorgeous cake card using the Pretty Princess set and Kylie made this elegant card for a special someone’s birthday (giggle!) using the Big Bold Birthday set. A new visitor to my blog, Helen (~waving hello!~) emailed me with her cupcake card that uses Short and Sweet – thanks, Helen, it’s so cute! All of these cards use stamp sets that are on sale in the Stampin’ Up! 20th Birthday special. You can save 20% off the RRP of these sets during October – bargain! And here are my cake cards…

See, can’t you just tell how much I love my Short and Sweet Stamp Set! LOL! I think that that set has to be one of the best ones for using up your small cardstock scraps too! It’s so handy to pull out the scrap drawer and find a few coordinating pieces of cardstock, stamp them, punch them and stick them on a card front. Then maybe another little stamp or embellishment and there you go!

Thanks for visiting! K :)

My 1st KW Challenge!

October 10, 2008 · 11 Comments

Well, those of you experienced bloggers and stampers have probably heard of (and participated in!) Kristina Werner’s Colour Challenges. Kristina very generously sets colour challenges inspired by gorgeous images for anyone to create a project with. There are always so many gorgeous cards created with the colour choices – it is very inspiring to check them all out! In the past I have always been too late to enter or not known what to do, but when I saw the colours this week for Challenge #25 I just could not resist!

Aren’t they just gorgeous? And amazingly enough I knew just what stamp set I wanted to use for a card with these colours, here you go…

So, I guess you could say I’m not a KW virgin anymore!!! LOL! Thanks for visiting! :) K

Michelle Smith!!!

Hi Kari, Congrats on your 1st birthday with Stampin’ Up. Your first post was 18 March 2008. Thanks for the chance to win this fab prize.

Too funny though as I had just delivered an order to Michelle when I came home and sat down to draw out a name! I could’ve saved myself a trip and brought the prize at the same time! LOL! I’ll see you on Sunday to hand over your blog candy, Michelle!! Thankyou everyone for your comments though (glad you all like my new design!) and thanks to my overseas visitors too! It’s nice to have you visit, although unfortunately, as I mentioned in the last post, this was only for Australian readers. Please visit me again though as I love to see new blogs to add to my favourites list to visit again too ;)

Now, something else to share!

This is a card for a little boy turning 4 in a week or so. How easy it was to just cut out the stamped images from the Big Bold Birthday set and layer them together with a couple of different colours of card, some matching DSP and just a bit of punching?! (BTW – thanks for the images fairy godmother!! mwah!!!) The Big Bold Birthday set is one of the ones on special this month with the Stampin’ Up! 20th Birthday promotion Make sure you add it to your wishlist ;) !!

Here is another cupcake birthday card using the Short and Sweet set – another one on special in October!

Okay, another piece of birthday blog candy this week – rules: only Australian residents are eligible, you need to leave a comment on this post by midnight next Wednesday (15th October) and in your comment, post a link to a picture of a cute cupcake (or cake) card you’ve made (on your blog/web album/SCS gallery/or email it to me and I’ll post it here)! I’ll pick my favourite card next Thursday and that person will receive a free Level 1 Hostess Stamp Set of my choice! Good luck and I can’t wait to see all your cards!

Last but not least – you have just over 48 hours left to place an order with me for a Simply Sent Kit at 20% off the RRP! That is a fantastic saving  (over $15!) so don’t miss out on the opportunity! Call or email me before 10pm Saturday night (Adelaide time) and I will place your order!

Bye for now! K :)
