Colour Challenge

Jayne’s second challenge from last night was to use Cherry Cobbler, Basic Gray and Whisper White to make a card, layout or 3D item. I needed some thank you cards and I thought those colours would be nice to use on those. Here is what I came up with ………

I used the large En Francais background stamp in Basic Gray first and although I inked up the whole stamp, when I lay the Whisper White cardstock on the stamp (I tend to use the En Francais stamp facing up instead of stamping it onto the cardstock) I just pressed with my fingers in some areas instead of smoothly it and pressing flat all over like I would if I wanted all of the text to be stamped. I then stamped the large Vintage Vogue Flower in Cherry Cobbler, using 2nd, 3rd and 4th impressions so the colour was a bit lighter.

To get the frame around the label, I punched two Modern Label shapes from Basic gray and adhered them together so that they overlapped, then adhered the stamped and punched label in the centre of the two. A bit of the White organza ribbon (which is divine!) and I was done! Hope the girls who received the card liked it!

That’s all for tonight! Cheers, Kari 🙂

Thanks for caring ….

This is the name of a lovely stamp set in the current Mini Catalogue and I have finally got some ink on it! One of the cards for my Stamp-a-Stack tonight was this card, but I offered the option to use the Thanks for Caring stampset instead or as well as the Share a Cup a la carte stamp.

And here are the two cards I made with the alternate set ….

You can see the layering a little better here …..

I really like how they turned out, pretty and pastel, and with the added textured of the embossed mat. They are perfect for any occasion too – birthday, get well, thank you, sympathy, etc. And the set includes a few lovely sentiments for those times when you aren’t sure what words to say to comfort someone at a difficult time.

Hope you like them too, have a great weekend! K 🙂

2011 Salisbury Craft and Hobby Fair!

Yes, I am still around 😉 I have been busy the last month or so preparing for my stall at the Craft Fair! I am by myself this year, so I got really organised and set up my display in the lounge at home to see what I wanted to take and display and I have to admit, it made packing, transport and unpacking SO easy! Plus, I didn’t lug heaps of stuff down there only to leave it in a box under the table! LOL!

It’s been lovely to see so many familiar faces there – customers and demonstrators – and I have really enjoyed the first two days, still one to go! Thought I’d share a pic of my stall for those of you that can’t come ….

I have to say a huge thank you to Carol Dunstan for lending me her Stampin’ Up! Banner – mwah! Much appreciated! And a big thank you to all of the demonstrators out there who have participated in swaps with me …. if you look carefully you may see one of your cards or scrap pages on display!

And, not sure if you can see them clearly at the front on the left, but here’s a couple of pics of some little things that have proved quite popular …. in fact I have had to make more each night for the next day!

The top ones hide a little lollipop inside and the bottom ones are battery operated tealights (I call them fat-free birthday cakes!). I have had lots of positive feedback about them and even had a couple of orders for specific colours. Thanks everyone!

Okay, that’s all for tonight, off to rest my feet for tomorrow 🙂 Happy stampin’! Kari

Banners seem to be the trendy thing this past year, dont’ you think? I haven’t given in and bought myself the Pennant Die for the Big Shot yet (although I must admit I have been close to putting in on an order some days 😉 ) but seeing so many around I kept wanting to make a card with one on it and I finally gave it a go with some gorgeous new products from the new mini catalogue.

As soon as I saw the Sweet Stitches DSP I thought the colours would be perfect for a banner and of course then my colour scheme fell into place as I picked the colours from the DSP. I’ve used the Create a Cupcake Stampset along with the Build a Cupcake Punch too – they are fabulous products and I have seen so many ways to use them!

I cut the pennants for my banner by cutting a strip of DSP 1 1/4″ wide and then marking along one side at 7/8″ intervals. I then found marked along the other side of the strip at 7/8″ intervals, but started marking 7/16″ from the end of the strip. I was then able to quickly chop the pennants in my trimmer by lining up the diagonal marks. Once I stuck the pennants in place I then added a length of Daffodil Delight 1/8″ Taffeta ribbon to create the banner and, as you can see, I curled the ends of the pennants up so I could pretend they were flapping in the breeze 🙂

Enjoy your day! Kari

Some 2-step stampin’!

Here’s a couple of cards using the 2-step Stamp Sets that are on special this month …..

This one uses the Cottage Garden set and the Wonderful Favourites set. I LOVE the Wonderful Favourites set because it gives you all these ‘relative titles’ so you can very easily customise a card for someone … including ‘in-law’ and ‘step’… all you have to do is stamp the words together to get ‘daughter in-law’ or ‘step mother’ … or you can simply stamp one word … ‘friend’ or ‘favourite’ … so versatile!

This card uses the Tiny Tags set and I’ve just made it very soft and pretty, using only Pink Pirouette and Whisper White, with Pink Pirouette DSP adding some interest below the ribbon. I wanted something above the ribbon, just to add a little extra so I stamped one of the Tiny Tags flourishes in White stazon as you can see here (it looks better in real life, sorry!)…..

And then to create the tag I stamped the dotted tag outline, then stamped again with the ‘4 YOU’ greeting and punched it out with the medium jewellery tag punch. I also punched a 2nd plain tag and just offset them when I stuck them together before mounting them to the cardfront with a Dimensional.

I hope these give you some ideas for what you could do with any of the stamp sets on special! Enjoy! K 🙂
